Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
